Another Blue Ridge weekend has come and gone! This was my third year participating in a Blue Ridge race, and it was as fun as ever. You may remember that I ran the full marathon last year. Once was enough for America’s Toughest Road Marathon, so this year I opted for the half so I could check off another #lj50by30 race, making this half marathon #29! I’m finally out of my post-Dopey running slump, and I have another half marathon finish to prove it! Yesterday, I finished my 28th half marathon in Martinsville, VA. It was also my 25th birthday! Running a race on my birthday has been on my to-do list for a while, but since my birthday has been a week day every year since I started running, this was my first chance to make it work. At long last, the main event of the Dopey Challenge had arrived.
This was day 4 of waking up long before sunrise, standing in the cold, and running on a crowded course. The last day of costumes. The 25th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon. Continue reading “Dopey Challenge Part 4: Marathon Recap”
The morning of the half marathon, I woke up dreading the race.
At this point, I wasn’t even halfway done with miles to run. This was the third freezing cold morning wakeup, just to stand and wait in the cold for a few hours. 13.1 miles is a long time to run alone, I knew the course wasn’t great, and I just wanted it to be over with. Little did I know, this race was about to change the whole trajectory of my weekend. Continue reading “Dopey Challenge Part 3: Half Marathon Recap”
This is Part 2 of my Dopey Challenge recap. If you missed Part 1 check it out HERE.
I woke up the morning of the 10K extremely excited. Disney 10Ks are my favorite of all the race weekends I have done. They are long enough that it’s almost worth the early morning wakeup, you get a little more park time, and there is generally less course crowding and more character stops. In this case, I was especially pumped for my Shark Maui costume! Continue reading “Dopey Challenge Part 2: 10K Recap”
This recap has been a long time coming. It’s not that I didn’t want to write about Dopey, it’s honestly that I got really burnt out on running almost immediately after and just needed some time to process everything. Continue reading “Dopey Challenge Part 1: 5K Recap”
Normally, when I sign up for races, I’ve thought about it for weeks in advance. But sometimes, I sign up completely in an impulse. The Army Ten Miler was one of those impulse decisions. Continue reading “Army Ten Miler”
This blog post is long overdue, but better late than never, right?
Back in August, before I went to Disneyland, I had the pleasure of running the Annapolis Ten Mile Run with my best running friends. We had a blast, and it definitely deserves its own blog post, so here we go! Continue reading “Annapolis Ten Mile Weekend”
The time has come for the final installment of the 2017 Disneyland Half Weekend Trilogy. I still can’t believe that as I write this, it’s almost two weeks after the event is over. I may or may not be having Disneyland and RunDisney withdrawals right now, and am already obsessing over my countdown to the Dopey Challenge. Continue reading “Disneyland Half Marathon Recap”
