Blue Ridge Half Marathon 2018

Another Blue Ridge weekend has come and gone! This was my third year participating in a Blue Ridge race, and it was as fun as ever. You may remember that I ran the full marathon last year. Once was enough for America’s Toughest Road Marathon, so this year I opted for the half so I could check off another #lj50by30 race, making this half marathon #29! Martinsville Half Marathon

I’m finally out of my post-Dopey running slump, and I have another half marathon finish to prove it! Yesterday, I finished my 28th half marathon in Martinsville, VA. It was also my 25th birthday! Running a race on my birthday has been on my to-do list for a while, but since my birthday has been a week day every year since I started running, this was my first chance to make it work. Dopey Challenge Part 4: Marathon Recap

This is part 4 in my Dopey recap series. You can read part one HERE, two HERE and three HERE.

At long last, the main event of the Dopey Challenge had arrived.

Dopey Challenge Part 3: Half Marathon Recap

This is Part 3 of my Dopey Challenge Recap. Read Part 1 HERE and Part 2 HERE.

The morning of the half marathon, I woke up dreading the race.

At this point, I wasn’t even halfway done with miles to run. This was the third freezing cold morning wakeup, just to stand and wait in the cold for a few hours. 13.1 miles is a long time to run alone, I knew the course wasn’t great, and I just wanted it to be over with. Little did I know, this race was about to change the whole trajectory of my weekend.  Continue reading “Dopey Challenge Part 3: Half Marathon Recap”

Dopey Challenge Part 2: 10K Recap

This is Part 2 of my Dopey Challenge recap. If you missed Part 1 check it out HERE.

I woke up the morning of the 10K extremely excited. Disney 10Ks are my favorite of all the race weekends I have done. They are long enough that it’s almost worth the early morning wakeup, you get a little more park time, and there is generally less course crowding and more character stops. In this case, I was especially pumped for my Shark Maui costume! Continue reading “Dopey Challenge Part 2: 10K Recap”

Top Ten Things I’m Excited for in Philadelphia

In 22 short days, I’ll be Philadelphia bound for my 4th marathon, and for what I’m sure is to be an unforgettable weekend. While I’ve been to Pennsylvania (for about a day), I’ve never been to Philadelphia. My friend Morgan and I have compiled an (ambitious) list of things that we want to do while we are there, and I wanted to highlight the things I’m most excited for. So, here we go!  Continue reading “Top Ten Things I’m Excited for in Philadelphia”
